Our team

Stefanie Knaab is the founder and managing director of GfZ and came up with the idea for the app back in 2017. Since then, she has put her heart and soul into implementing the project together with her team. Not only does she spend a lot of time in the public eye, giving interviews, giving specialist talks and making demands on politicians, but she also works behind the scenes to ensure that all areas of the project are implemented as smoothly as possible and always has an open ear for her team.

The Distribution and Communication team is responsible for public relations work in the project and is also responsible for coordinating the protected distribution of the app. They take care of accompanying materials, conduct training courses, manage GfZ's social media channels and are responsible for communication with external stakeholders. Marta Koterba is responsible for finances and administration within the project. Together with Stefanie Knaab, she manages the budget, takes care of personnel matters, organizes work processes and the office and always makes time for all the big and small questions from the team.

The research team is responsible for the accompanying social science and legal research. To this end, the team works with cooperation partners and experts from the help system at various points. In order to design our app as well as possible for those affected, they are investigating help-seeking processes and the associated barriers as well as the evidence situation in criminal proceedings relating to domestic violence. Xenia Bukowsky is responsible for the technical development of the app and prepares technical development sprints.
